Biography

Pat is Managing Director of Yarra Valley Water, one of Australia’s largest water utilities providing water and sanitation services to 2M people across Melbourne’s eastern and northern suburbs, with $5B in assets, and annual turnover of $1B.

In a career spanning over 30 years in the water industry, Pat has played a lead role within Yarra Valley Water and the broader water sector in addressing critical challenges such as climate change, drought and rapid population growth.

Pat also has experience working in the USA water sector, and advising the Australian Federal Government as part of the National Water Initiative. He is currently Chair of the Water Services Association of Australia (Australia’s peak body for major urban water utilities). He is also Chair of the Thriving Communities Partnership (a cross-sector collaboration to strengthen access to essential services for vulnerable people in the community). Pat is a passionate advocate of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and a CEO signatory to the UN Global Compact, and is also an ambassador for WaterAid.

Pat holds qualifications from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and Monash University, and is a Fellow of Leadership Victoria’s Williamson Community Leadership Program.
